Hi, I'm Stephanie. I believe that the best way to teach is to hone in on students' interests, areas of growth, and strengths and build a lesson plan that will benefit them the most. I have found that students learn better when they can relate the material to personal experiences. Students learn in different ways and at different paces, so I incorporate many different approaches in the classroom and one-on-one setting. I use modeling, activities, and I let my students explore the subject. This way, the student feels in control of their learning. Literature has always come easy to me, but I had to work hard at the other subjects. I believe it is important to teach study skills, essay writing, deeper reading, and test-taking skills so my students can apply them in the future. When I teach math and science, I focus in on teaching the concepts through practice and building off of that for the next challenge.I have been working as a high school teacher for a few years now. I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education English Language Arts and a bachelor's degree in Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of Cincinnati. I began tutoring when I was a sophomore in high school, so I have been teaching for quite some time. In high school, I helped younger students in all subject areas. I am available to tutor now in any subject, and my next educational adventure will be earning my master's in Literature. By obtaining this degree, I will not only expand my knowledge, but I will be able to help high school students earn early college credits. Right now I am a high school English Language Arts teacher and tutor in standardized test prep. When I am not teaching, you can find me spending time with my family. My two children are creative and have many different interests. We do crafts, explore nature, do puzzles, and read. My daughter and I both enjoy soccer and baseball, so in the spring and fall, you can find us indulging in those games as well.
